St. Ignace Coast Guard Station Practices Ice Rescue Techniques

As soon as the ice forms, members of the U.S. Coast Guard in St. Igance start training for ice rescue. They use different scenarios so they're ready to save anyone who falls through ice. So far they've already saved four people in Northern Michigan who have fallen through. They say that is a lot, and a result of this season's unpredictable ice conditions. 9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Aaron Smith have more details on what goes into the training and what you can do to be prepared on the ice.
