Benefit for Children of Northern Michigan Teacher Killed in Car Accident

A Northern Michigan community is rallying around the family of a beloved teacher who died in a car accident. Wednesday night, friends and family threw a dinner and auction in Boyne City to raise money for her children's' college fund. Carrie Bricker-Hauger died in a car accident in January. She left behind four children under the age of nine. Hundreds of people turned out to donate and bid on auction items. Many turned out to support Bricker-Hauger, who coached volleyball for several years in Boyne City. She was also a teacher at Central Lake. 9&10's Jodi Hathaway and photojournalist Joel Deaner have more on the community support for the Hauger children. If you would like to donate to the Hauger Children College Fund, cheques can be made out to Joe Hauger (write “college fund” in the memo line). They can be sent to: Joe Hauger 4275 Hardwood Road Boyne City, MI 49712
