Mackinac Island “Shocked” After Deadly Snowmobile Accident

People on Mackinac Island are feeling the loss of two sisters who died when the snowmobile they were riding on went over a steep hill. Karen Schwarck of Mackinac Island and Edith Bonno of Canton, Michigan both died in the crash. Schwarck lived part time on the island with her husband and Bonno was visiting for the weekend. After spending the day at the island's winter festival, the two took the snowmobile to take some photographs. They left around 4:00 p.m. When they weren't back by 10:15, search teams assembled. Crews searched the entire island, until they found the women and their snowmobile, that had fallen off West Bluff. Friends on the island remember Schwarck as someone who would help anyone. They say her sister, Bonno was just as friendly and both seemed excited to be spending time together on the island. 9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Aaron Smith have more details after spending the day on Mackinac.
