Traverse City Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense announced an improvised explosive device killed Army Sergeant Dillon B. Foxx, 22, of Traverse City. It happened Friday, February 5, in western Afghanistan when enemy forces attacked his unit. Foxx was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. Foxx enlisted in the Army in May 2006 when he was 18-years-old. This was Foxx's second tour of duty in Afghanistan. He leaves behind a son and mother and father. A memorial will be held in his honor in Afghanistan.
