The Athletes of the Michigan Special Olympics Winter Games are back in the Grand Traverse area. 11 hundred athletes, coaches and volunteers are joined by some 500 volunteers as the Games got underway today. The Games are taking place through Friday at Howe Arena, Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, and Schuss Village at Shanty Creek Resort. This year's games are dedicated to the memory of Mark “The Bird” Fidyrch, who rode with Wertz Warriors for many years to raise funds to support Michigan Special Olympics.
