NMC Expanding To Meet Growing Student Needs

Northwestern Michigan College is growing to meet growing student needs. Increased enrollment and cramped quarters prompted the board's decision to purchase a new building that will expand NMC's existing technical campus. With enrollment up, and the addition of classes on things like renewable energy, the college is running out of room. The new building is a former industrial manufacturing space across the street from the existing facilities on Aero Park Drive in Traverse City. It will allow programs to space out and even add new, in-demand programs like one on hybrid vehicles. NMC will pay for the new property with reserve funds, and classes will begin there in the fall. 9&10's Erika Waddell and photojournalist Justin DePrekel have the story.
