Local Dealer Upset GM Took Franchise

A former General Motors dealer is feeling the effects of GM's bankruptcy they claimed last July, which is also when they announced they'd be shutting down some of its dealership franchises. That hit home when a Manistee dealer lost his franchise last July. Benchley Buick Pontiac GMC was told they had until October to remove all of its GM franchise. Benchley's told Northern Michigan's News Leader that GM decided to terminate their franchise because GM felt they weren't selling enough cars. Even after months of negation with GM, a 30 year relationship with the automaker came to an abrupt end. Today marked the first day Benchley's opened as Benchleys AutoGroup LLC. Fox 32's Cali O'Rourke and photojournalist Stephanie Adkins were at the dealership and found out how they feel about the removal of the brand.
