Local Heroes Awarded for Saving Two from Tipped Canoe

Some Northern Michigan police troopers and patrol agents are being honored for saving two lives. The Michigan State Police recognized state police troopers Patrick Slinger and Lori Price with a professional excellence award. Border patrol agents Dennis Baars and Gary Fellows also earned the award. Back in August, the four worked together to save two people near Sugar Island after their canoe tipped over. Everyone was okay thanks to their swift actions.
