Restaurant Hosts Benefit to Help Local Chef

The managers of Timbers Restaurant in Cadillac say Jeff Bates taught them how to cook. Bates now has lung cancer, and they want to help. They're throwing a benefit this weekend, which will include a silent auction and live music. Part of the food sales that night will also go the Bates family. The managers say Jeff has been a known force in the Cadillac restaurant world, and they're hoping for a big crowd. The benefit goes from 6 to 8:30 PM Sunday night at Timbers Restaurant in Cadillac. It's open to the public.
