K-9 Officers Train in Grand Traverse County
Top K-9 officers are sharpening their skills so they are prepared to track down a number of different crimes. The four legged officers, and their handlers try to get together every week for up to six hours of training. Wednesday, Traverse City Area Public Schools hosted their workouts. The dogs practiced going after bad guys, sniffing out drugs or dummy explosive materials hidden on busses and in school lockers. When they did their job, they got a tennis ball reward, but they know when things get serious. Besides Grand Traverse County, dogs from Cadillac, the Wexford County Sheriff, and the Little River Tribal Police all took part.
