Community Blood Banks Not Called On To Help Haiti

Reports from Haiti have many people calling their community blood banks wondering if blood donations are needed. Michigan Blood says that civilian blood banks are not being called on for help in Haiti. For now, the United States Armed Services Blood Program is handling all needs. At this time they say the need is being met, and community blood banks are next in line if needed. Although there is currently no need for additional support in Haiti, Michigan Blood says there is always a need for donations. Michigan Blood is a non-profit organization that serves the needs of Michigan hospitals.
