Traverse City Discusses Division St. Re-Design

Traverse City's Division Street is under the microscope as city commissioners discuss improving it. Division St. is one of the city's busiest streets and also one of its most dangerous. It's the second most common place for car accidents, and it is not pedestrian friendly. Tonight commissioners discussed putting in medians and widening the road, an idea that would have to go to the voters this August because it would mean losing some city park land. Early estimates on the cost of the re-design are $10 to 12 million. That would be funded by state and federal funds. Erika Waddell and photojournalist Justin DePrekel have the story.
